Illinois Legislature Asked to IMPEACH Governor

SPringfiled, IL -- Last month after Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested by the FBI for allegedly trying to sell the appointment to fill Barack Obama's vacant US Senate seat, the Illionois political system demanded the Governor resign. He refused.

The Illinois Legislature appointed a special investigative committee which reported back to the Legislature today. In that report, the special investigative committee found the Governor violated his oath of office and is unfit to continue as Governor. They voted unanimously to recommend the legislature Impeach the governor from office.

If the full legislature approves the committee recommendation today, Articles of Impeachment will be sent to the Illinois Senate for which the Governor will face trial. If the Senate finds the Governor guilty, that verdict will instantly remove him from office.
