Washington, DC --The economy is fundamentally sound despite the temporary "mess" it's in, the White House said Sunday in the kind of upbeat assessment that Barack Obama had mocked as a presidential candidate.

Last I looked, more than 150,000 people PER WEEK were filing for new unemployment claims. The Stock Market is down to its lowest level in decades. Banks are going bust week after week.

Meanwhile, as one White House aid says the economy is sound, another is saying the worst is yet to come! Clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in this White House.
